An eviction action against a woman living in a gate lodge at Classie Bawn Castle, the former Mountbatten estate, in Mullaghmore, Co Sligo, was settled yesterday at Sligo Circuit Court when the woman agreed to vacate the house.

The current owner of the estate, Mr Hugh Tunney, was seeking an eviction order against Ms Margaret Jones, who had lived for some years in the gate lodge. Her husband, Mr Michael Connolly (now deceased), used to work for Lord Mountbatten.

It is believed that, in an outof-court settlement, Ms Jones agreed to leave the house in seven months. Judge Carroll Moran said he was delighted a settlement had been agreed as it was "a particularly bitter dispute".
