Cork City 1 Sligo Rovers 2: Sligo Rovers moved to fourth in the table after a stunning 2-1 victory over Cork City at Turner's Cross.
Defeat for the home side all but ends their title aspirations, no matter how ambitious they were ahead of the contest. The three points for Sligo sees them leapfrog both Cork and Bohemians into fourth.
Sligo took the lead after 14 minutes when Adam Hughes capitalised on fine approach play before firing an angled shot past Michael Devine from 12 yards.
But Cork rallied thereafter and lorded possession for much of the remainder. Although Roy O'Donovan restored parity on the half hour his side failed to kick on from that and secure full points.
Sligo stuck to their gameplan and were rewarded for their tenacious battling approach when Fahrudin Kuduzovic curled a sublime free over the Cork wall midway through the second half.
Waterford United came from behind to beat Galway United 2-1 at Terryland Park.
Gareth Cronin's side went behind early in the second half when Robbie Hedderman put through his own net.
But Waterford rallied superbly; David Breen and Vinny Sullivan scoring in the 53rd and 73rd minutes respectively.
