Packaging group Smurfit Kappa has warned that profits will be lower this year following an increase in costs.
Smurfit Kappa Group said today it would continue to experience significant input cost pressure, the financial impact of which will continue into the fourth quarter of 2007.
It has warned that its full year 2007 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation "will be towards the lower end of the range of current market expectations."
Increased paper costs hit earnings following increases in the price of wood and recycled-fibre.

Smurfit Kappa will report 2007 third quarter results on November 13th and will provide initial guidance for 2008 at that time.
