Pristina - An unidentified sniper shot and wounded a Russian soldier at his guard post in south-east Kosovo, the NATO-led Kfor peace force said yesterday.
Major Roland Lavoie of Kfor said the soldier was shot in the shoulder on Thursday afternoon in his compound in Robotovo, 8 km east of the main regional town of Gnjilane. He was recovering at a Russian army clinic near Pristina.
Meanwhile, the moderate Kosovo Albanian leader Mr Ibrahim Rugova, stepping out of the seclusion for which he has been criticised by his western patrons, said yesterday that his party would reshape itself into a new political force.
