A 13-year-old boy died following an incident at a river in Kildare on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 4pm in a river close to the Kilcock Road in Maynooth, Co Kildare.
The three teenagers, two boys and one girl, were playing by the river when they got into difficulty.
It is understood the other boy raised the alarm and contacted emergency services.

A Garda spokesman said the three teenagers were brought to Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin.
The 13 year old boy died some time later.
The other two teenagers are not believed to be in a serious condition.
