A 2-year-old boy has died following a traffic collision in Tipperary last night.

The incident occurred shortly before 8pm when a van hit the young boy on Rosanna Road in Tipperary town.

The boy was taken by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital Accident and Emergency Department at Clonmel. He was pronounced dead soon after.

The driver and passenger in the van, who were both men, were uninjured in the incident.
