A full-time member of the Royal Irish Regiment has been remanded in custody on charges of riotous behaviour at Tullyally on the outskirts of Derry last Sunday night. Mr William Jackson (27), whose address was given as St Lucia Barracks, Omagh, Co Tyrone, was remanded in custody after Derry Magistrates' Court was told the military refused to have him remanded into its custody as the alleged offence occurred when he was off duty.

Mr Jackson was remanded in custody to appear before Limavady Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
