A British soldier has appeared in court following an incident in which a British army officer and another soldier came under fire at Aldergrove airport.
Mr Jonathan Smiley (23), a serving member of the Royal Engineers, was accused at Antrim Magistrates' Court on Saturday of possessing a firearm and ammunition in suspicious circumstances.
He was remanded into military custody to reappear before Antrim magistrates on April 2nd.
Two soldiers escaped injury when shots were fired at their unmarked military jeep as it left the airport last month. The IRA was initially blamed.
