A solicitor and university lecturer are among 10 men facing charges arising from the rioting and disturbances at Drumcree on Thursday night. The solicitor, Mr Richard Monteith, of Parkmore Street, Portadown, was charged with criminal damage with intent to endanger life. Mr Monteith has represented many loyalist figures in the Portadown area.

Mr Philip Black, of Glenview Drive, Lurgan, a Queen's University lecturer, is also facing charges of criminal damage and obstruction. The other men who appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court are: Mr John Black, Rosewood, Lurgan; Mr Roy Graham, Gilford Road, Lurgan; Mr Mark Greenaway, Greenhill Place, Lurgan; Mr Geoffrey Morrison, , Donaghcloney; Mr David Hamon, Prinston Drive, Lurgan; Mr Brian McDowell, Woodland Park, Lurgan; Mr Paul Johnson, Corby Drive, Lurgan; and Mr Robert Anthony, Woodland Park, Lurgan. All were remanded in custody to appear at the magistrates court in a week.
