A solicitor pleaded guilty yesterday to stealing more than €9,000 of stamp duty money from a woman almost five years ago.
Liam Davis (57), Avondale Lawn, Blackrock, appeared at Dublin District Court on a charge under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act. Davis admitted stealing €9,259 from a Martina Mulligan on February 8th, 2007, at a location in the capital.
Judge Timothy Lucey heard the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed the case should be dealt with at District Court level if the accused pleaded guilty.
Judge Lucey accepted jurisdiction after hearing an outline of the allegations. He remanded Davis on bail to appear again on a date in January for sentencing.
