South Africa have won the 4th test match at Headingley by 191 runs and lead the series 2-1.

England's hopes of an improbable victory receded instantly when Mark Butcher and Andrew Flintoff fell inside the first three overs of the final morning at Headingley.

Butcher, unbeaten on 57 overnight in a sixth-wicket stand of 70 with Flintoff (50), clipped the first ball on this deciding day for four off his legs.

But Jacques Kallis exacted immediate revenge when he found a little extra bounce and movement away off the pitch to take Butcher's outside edge into the hands of Andrew Hall at first slip.

It was an immediate setback to England's chances of adding another 236 to their overnight 165 for five to prevent South Africa taking a 2-1 series lead with just one match left.

Flintoff survived long enough to reach his second half-century of the match with his eighth four from 62 balls.

But Kallis (four for 35) again hit back straightaway, this time squaring up his victim who again edged to Hall at slip to make the score a sorry 182 for seven.
