GARDAÍ HAVE put extensive traffic management plans in place to cater for the crowds expected at the Radiohead and Bon Jovi concerts this weekend.
Ongoing roadworks on the M50 and the N4 Lucan bypass scheme are likely to lead to some congestion as motorists adapt to changed road layouts.
A new elongated roundabout opened at the Newcastle Road junction on the N4 yesterday.
Motorists are advised to drive carefully and heed the diversion signs on the M50 as roadworks continue at the M50/N7 Red Cow and M50 Ballymount junctions.
The M50 is expected to be busy today with music fans travelling to see Radiohead at Malahide Castle and Bon Jovi at Punchestown Racecourse.
Park-and-ride facilities have been set up at Goffs, Kill and at Flood's Cross, Newhall, for the Bon Jovi concert. There will be a free shuttle bus to and from the park-and-ride sites.
Dublin Bus will provide a special bus service departing from Parnell Square every 20 minutes from 1pm until 6pm.
The Radiohead concert at Malahide Castle will be serviced by the Dart and Dublin Bus and concert promoters MCD are urging patrons to leave their cars at home. Limited car parking is available on site for €10. Traffic diversions will be in place after the concert to accommodate those leaving the castle grounds.
The weather is expected to hold up for most of the weekend events, says Met Éireann.
