Veteran Argentinian defender Jose Antonio Chamot has agreed to join English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur, the London club announced on its official web site today.
Chamot, 32, has agreed a two-year contract to join Glenn Hoddle's team on a free transfer from AC Milan.
Capped 40 times by Argentina, Chamot played in the 1994 and 1998 World Cup finals and his arrival at Tottenham would represent another big name addition to Hoddle's squad after the summer captures of Teddy Sheringham, Christian Ziege, Gustavo Poyet and Goran Bunjevcevic.
Chamot joined AC Milan from Atletico Madrid in January 2000. Before that he played for Pisa, Foggia and Lazio in Italy after starting his career in his native Argentina with Rosario Central. -AFP
