The Hague tribunal reduced Bosnian Serb general Radislav Krstic's conviction for the 1995 Srebrenica massacre today from genocide to aiding and abetting genocide and cut his jail sentence to 35 years from 46.
The UN tribunal's appeals chamber reduced his sentence after ruling that he had not been a direct participant in genocide during Europe's worst massacre since World War Two at Srebrenica, in which up to 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were killed.
