This is the 17th year of the revival of the Wran Day in Sandymount, Dublin. The special guest will be Ronnie Drew. The day begins with poetry readings in Reilly's pub at 11 a.m. The parade starts at noon.

In Co Kerry, the Dingle Wren Boys will be out all day. There will be music and parades.

The Dublin and District Motorcycle Club's 50-year-old fancy-dress parade and hill-climb challenge begins at noon at the Slade, Crooksling, Co Dublin. At 11 a.m., the 104th 10-mile run organised by the Donore Harriers sets off from Phoenix Park. It is open to members only, though supporters are welcome.

In Galway, the annual 10-mile walk in aid of the heart charity, Cro∅, sets off at 1 p.m. from the Annaghdown Community Centre.
