Visitors will not be allowed into the State rooms in Áras an Uachtaráin for a number of months while maintenance works take place in the President’s residence.

The Office of Public Works said yesterday that Saturday tours of Áras an Uachtaráin, would be affected due to the works during which there would be no access to the State rooms in the main house.

Tour access to the gardens would remain unaffected, the OPW said in a statement. “The electrical installations in Áras an Uachtaráin were surveyed and part of the installation in the Áras was found to be in a relatively poor state.”

The programme for these works has been structured so as to allow for the operational requirements of Áras an Uachtaráin. They will begin in the State rooms after the last scheduled function at the end of July and are expected to be completed by September 7th.
