The Chief State Solicitor's Office was blamed in Drogheda District Court yesterday for delays in the hearing of a case relating to sex abuse charges against a former hospital consultant. Mr Robert Eager, for the defendant, said High Court leave was granted last July to hold a judicial review into the case, but each time it came up, the Chief State Solicitor sought an adjournment.
The defendant is facing 21 charges relating to 11 male complainants who allege that on dates from 1963 to 1982 they were indecently assaulted.
Judge Flann Brennan adjourned the case until July 3rd.
