Was the Government trying to sabotage the workings of the Moriarty and Flood tribunals, Mr Paul Coghlan (FG) asked. If so, the entire proceedings of the Dail and Seanad on the setting up of the tribunals would be brought into disrepute, he contended.
Mr Coghlan called for a clear statement by the Taoiseach or the Minister for Finance on the funding of the tribunals.
The leader of the House, Mr Donie Cassidy, said he would make the necessary inquiries and be in touch with Mr Coghlan at a later stage.
