Women who stay at home are gradually being forced out of existence, according to Ms Finola Bruton, the wife of Fine Gael's leader, writes Alison O'Connor. In an article in this week's Irish Catholic, critical of aspects of last week's Budget, Ms Bruton said the Government was pressing onwards with the concept of individualisation.
"Women who forfeit an extra income, who forfeit the stimulating adult world of work and who give in to their heart's desire to be physically close to their children, now find that something worse than mere discrimination is afoot," said Ms Bruton. "They are gradually being forced out of existence. Soon they will look like pariahs."
