Tottenham defender Steve Carr has flown to a specialist in the United States
in a last-ditch attempt to get fit in time for the World Cup.
The Republic of Ireland's first choice right-back has worked intensively on his injured knee since undergoing surgery last year, but, after breaking down in training ten days ago, he has returned to Colorado to consult with Dr. Richard Steadman, the man who performed the operation.
Mick McCarthy has already gone on record as saying that if Carr can regain his fitness he will definitely be part of the squad which travels to Japan.
