Gordon Strachan got his wish by avoiding Arsenal and Chelsea in the FA Cup but insisted his Southampton would not be taking First Division Watford lightly in their semi-final clash.

Saints boss Strachan was relieved to avoid facing one of the Premiership's top guns, but is well aware that Ray Lewington's Watford have already beaten two sides from the top flight on their road to the semis.

"We will give them every respect," said Strachan. "They have already beaten two Premiership sides in West Brom and Sunderland so we know they will be tricky opposition.

"I am sure Watford will be delighted with the draw because no-one wanted to play Arsenal or Chelsea at this stage.

"I never said we were afraid of them because we have beaten Arsenal and drawn twice with Chelsea so we would not have been scared - but common sense says it is better to avoid them at the moment because they are the best teams in it."

Strachan knows his team will be under pressure because their own fans will expect them to reach the showpiece final in Cardiff following the draw.

"We are not unhappy with the draw and Watford will probably feel the same," Strachan told the club's website, www.saintsfc.co.uk. "Sheffield United have the hardest tie as far as I am concerned, but our game certainly won't be easy.

"It is a semi-final on a neutral ground and anything can happen. But it is exciting for everyone connected with Southampton - and Watford. Having got this far, both sets of fans will think they can reach the final."
