Hopes of averting a strike at TEAM Aer Lingus increased yesterday, following almost eight hours of talks. Substantial progress is believed to have been made. The two sides meet again on Monday afternoon.
SIPTU has served strike notice for next Thursday but the threat has now receded. The dispute, involving aircraft, maintenance assistants, is over a number of grievances, including a long-standing productivity bonus claim, the use of temporary labour by the company and its failure to "upskill" them to perform more technical tasks.
