Strikes by air traffic controllers today triggered mass flight cancellation for a second day at Paris's Orly airport and could lead to disruptions at France's main Charles de Gaulle airport.
The focus of the labour conflict is a plan to relocate more staff in the Roissy region where Charles de Gaulle airport is located, about 20 miles north of the capital.
The national civil aviation agency (DGAC) said the strike over reorganisation of air traffic control would lead to the cancellation of about 60 per cent of flights at Orly airport this week. The strike is due to last until Friday.
Media said between 10 and 30 per cent of flights at Charles de Gaulle airport north of Paris could be cancelled today.
Air France said it would assure all its long-haul flights and 40 per cent of short- or medium-distance flights departed from Orly today, and said its services at Charles de Gaulle would be normal.
Yesterday, only 40 per cent of flights from Orly were running, forcing many passengers to wait for hours or to change their travel plans for the current school holiday period.
