A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit near the west coast of Colombia last night, the US Geological Survey said.
Officials in coastal Narino province said they had no news of damaged buildings or injuries. Residents said the quake knocked out electricity in some areas.
An aftershock of 3.8 magnitude rattled the area shortly after the initial quake.
The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, and its epicentre was 155 kilometres southwest of the Colombian port city of Buenaventura, the US Geological Survey said.
