A prosecution being taken against a struck-off Co Clare doctor for non-payment of 20,000 in rates was adjourned yesterday for the implementation of a settlement order.
The case being taken by Clare County Council against Mr Paschal Carmody, of Thomas Street, Shanraud, Killaloe, first came before Killaloe District Court in October.
Mr Carmody is being prosecuted for the non-payment of rates of 12,316 due for the health farm, Tinarana House, on Lough Derg, and 8,407 for the former doctor's East Clare Clinic in Killaloe.
The total amount owed to the council comes to 20,723.
However, at the October sitting of the court, Judge Joseph Mangan was told that a "substantial payment" had been made to the council.
At the court sitting at Killaloe District Court yesterday, the council was granted an adjournment for the implementation of a settlement order at the next court sitting on January 17th.
Mr Carmody, who was not in court, was struck off the medical register last April by the Medical Council after three separate fitness-to-practise committee inquiries into the care he provided.
