A French student group has taken the social network Twitter to court in Paris, claiming it should reveal the identities of users posting anti-Semitic messages.
The Union of Jewish Students in France, joined by other associations, said Twitter should be compelled to reveal the names of users responsible for anti-Semitic tweets posted last October so that they can be pursued for incitement to hatred.
The company has removed the tweets, but says it is bound by American law, which prohibits transfer of personal data. A judgment is expected at the end of the month.
