Gardaí were joined by teams of sub-aqua divers in searches of lakes near Castleblayney and Carrickmacross for a Co Armagh man yesterday.
The lake searches followed extensive searches of forest areas in counties Monaghan, Louth and Cavan, at the weekend for Pádraig Campbell (37), Drumboy Road, Crossmaglen.
Mr Campbell, a single man, was last seen at Cullaville village on Sunday, March 18th. He is 5ft 8in, of stocky build with red hair. He was wearing a grey T-shirt, a body warmer and blue jeans.
Gardaí say his car, a blue Toyota Avensis with a UK registration number, HX53EKU, is also missing and have appealed for anyone with information that might help to contact them at Carrickmacross Garda station 042-969 0190, or any Garda station.
Local resident PJ Toal, who was leading the search operation, said: “Everyone is completely baffled by this man’s disappearance. We are all now very concerned for Pádraig’s safety.”
