Gardaí seized property and a "substantial amount" of cash this morning during a major operation against organised crime in the north Mayo region.
A force of up to 70 gardaí, including members from the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) the Regional Support Unit, Divisional Search Team and Scene of Crime Office supported by local detective and uniformed gardaí carried out searches on residences in the greater Ballina area.
Gardaí say the seized cash was in both euro and sterling denominations.
They also seized two high value vehicles and documents. No arrests were made.
The raid is the second so-called "super raid" this month.
On November 2nd, some 300 gardaí searched 33 addresses in Dublin, Cavan, Wexford, Cork and Kildare in a co-ordinated pre-dawn operation.
A total of 13 people were arrested – nine of them in Dublin, and two in both Cork and Wexford.
