A suicide car bomber who blew up his vehicle near a US military convoy in central Baghdad today killed at least seven Iraqis and wounded 16.
A few hours later, a second suicide bomber detonated his car outside a base on the banks of the Tigris in Baghdad for police who patrol the river.
Police said there were several casualties. Elsewhere gunmen have kidnapped the governor of Iraq's Anbar province, his brother said today.
Raja Nawaf, who recently became the governor of Anbar - home to many of Iraq's insurgents - was abducted along with four bodyguards on the road from the town of Qaim, near the Syrian border, to the rebel stronghold of Ramadi, his brother Hamed Nawaf told reporters.
