A major conference on the prevention of suicide will open in Dublin today.
Minister for Health Mary Harney will be among the key speakers at the event at the Clarion Hotel, Liffey Valley.
The conference, "Suicide Prevention - Protecting the Family of Tomorrow", will be hosted by Console, a charity that was set up in 2002 by families who lost a loved one through suicide.
Through its offices in Dublin and Galway, Console promotes positive mental health within the community in an effort to reduce the high number of attempted suicides and deaths through suicide.
