BOTH IBEC and the ICTU have been invited to to open discussions on Sunday trading, the Minister of State for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Noel Treacy, told Mr David Stanton (FG, Cork East). He said Sunday had always been a day of rest in the past, but that had changed. It was important to get consensus on the matter and to let the employers and unions agree the new parameters. Mr Stanton said greed was the main cause of damage being done to small shops and firms by big businesses. Some small shops had gone out of business.
