Barclays Premiership newcomers Sunderland have released centre-back Kenny Cunningham and midfielder Tommy Miller.
Former Irish international Cunningham, who joined the club a year ago from Birmingham, played just 12 times for the Coca-Cola Championship winners last season.
The 35-year-old sustained a knee ligament injury in October's home match against Barnsley and although he regained fitness before the end of the campaign, he was unable to win his place back in the team.
Former Ipswich midfielder Miller (28), figured in just five matches for the Black Cats, although he played seven times during a loan spell at Championship rivals Preston at the end of last year.
Scottish striker Kevin Smith, loaned out to Wrexham last season, and French midfielder William Mocquet - who had loan spells with League Two Rochdale and Bury - have also left the club.
