Support for the Government parties is holding steady according to a new opinion poll.

The Sunday Business Post/Red C poll, published today, shows that despite recent concerns about the economy as well as controversy over the future of Shannon Airport, support for the Government parties has remained generally unchanged since the General Election.

Support for Fianna Fail and the Labour Party has fallen by one point since September, while support for Fine Gael and the Green Party remains unchanged. Support for Sinn Fein has increased, while the Progressive Democrats have seen a drop.

The poll was carried out last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

It shows support for Fianna Fail stands at 39 per cent, down one; Fine Gael is unchanged at 27 per cent, with the Greens remaining at seven per cent. Labour is at 10 per cent, down one, while Sinn Fein has seen a two per cent rise in support to eight per cent. The PDs are down one to two per cent and Independents are up one to seven per cent.
