Radio stations across the country have lost listeners, with latest figures showing an overall slight drop in the numbers tuning in.
The interim figures in the Joint National Listenership Research Survey (JNLR) for the period October 2004 to March 2005 show listenership to any local, regional or national radio service at 85 per cent.
This is a decrease of 2 per cent overall compared to the period October 2003 to March 2004.
The report also says that listenership figures for regional or local stations were 55 per cent overall, down 1 per cent. At national level, the number of listeners to RTÉ Radio 1 remained unchanged, but the numbers tuning in to RTÉ 2FM dropped.
RTÉ Radio 1 achieved 26 per cent while RTÉ 2FM recorded a figure of 22 per cent, a drop of 2 per cent. Some stations did have more people tuning in and recorded an increase in listeners.
Listeners to Today FM increased by 2 per cent to 15 per cent, Spin 103.8 recorded an increase of 5 per cent to 10 per cent, and Dublin's Country 106.8 achieved a figure of 4 per cent, an increase of 1 per cent.
Midlands 103 increased its listenership to 43 per cent, an increase of 8 per cent, and among the regional stations South East BEAT 102-103 FM reached 18 per cent, up 1 per cent.
Dublin local station FM104 retained its listenership at 20 per cent, while Q102's and Newstalk's figures remained unchanged at 12 per cent and 5 per cent respectively. Those with falling figures were Galway Bay FM which reached 50 per cent, a drop of 2 per cent, and WLR FM which achieved 47 per cent, a decrease of 7 per cent.
Dublin's local radio 98 FM dropped 3 per cent to 17 per cent.
