Army bomb disposal units were today called out to deal with four suspect devices found at separate locations in Dublin.
A suspicious device found by council workers hidden in a vent in Oliver Bond flats off Thomas Street in Dublin 2. The device was examined by an Army bomb disposal unit and declared a hoax.
Earlier, another Army unit arrived at a house at Grove Lane, Coolock, at 10am, and a planned search of a house took place.
According to a Defence Forces spokesman, an old training grenade was found but contained no explosive material. The scene was declared safe at 10.40am.
Elsewhere, a device was found under a car on Foxdene Avenue, Ronanstown. An Army bomb disposal team arrived at 10am and rendered the device safe.
A fourth device was later found under a car outside a house on Ballyneety Road, Ballyfermot. The area was earlier evacuated and cordoned off while the Army personnel dismantled the device.
The spokesman said the devices removed from Ronanstown and Ballyfermot “appear similar in construction”. Both were later declared viable.
