A controlled explosion was carried out by Army bomb disposal experts early yesterday on a suspect device found on the grounds of RTE's Donnybrook studios. No explosives were found.
Late on Wednesday night, the Samaritans in Belfast received a call in which a code word believed to be used by loyalist paramilitaries was used. The caller claimed that two explosive devices had been planted at RTE and that they were timed to go off before 1 a.m. yesterday.
The Garda and RTE security staff searched the premises and one device was found under a satellite dish. Staff were evacuated from the buildings and there was some disruption to programming as a result of the incident.
