The FBI are investigating suspicious items found on a Delta Airlines flight from Japan to Portland in the US.
The FBI, working in conjunction with the airline, said the suspicious items were not explosive, but did not give any further details.
The flight arrived at Portland International Airport at about 8:00am local time today with 155 passengers and 10 crew members on board.
US Customs and Border Protection officers are processing the passengers and baggage through security and FBI agents are interviewing passengers and crew members, the FBI said.
US authorities are on high alert for explosives aboard airliners after two parcel bombs addressed to Jewish institutions in Chicago were intercepted last week on cargo planes in Britain and Dubai.
