Swedish poll shows majority against euro

Swedes who do not want their country to join the European Union's common currency led euro supporters by 10

Swedes who do not want their country to join the European Union's common currency led euro supporters by 10.5 percentage points in a survey released today.

The new poll from the national statistics office (SCB) gave the anti-euro camp 43.5 per cent against 33 per cent for the pro-euro side, SCB said in a statement.

In SCB's previous euro poll in November, supporters led opponents by 40 to 35 per cent.

On September 14th, Sweden will hold a referendum on whether to join the euro. Most polls this year have given the "No" side the lead.
