Last-ditch talks between IMPACT and the Western Health Board (WHB) aimed at averting job losses in the health sector in the west are taking place in Galway this morning.
At least 169 health care workers' jobs are under threat after the health board proposed cuts to achieve savings under the Government's cost-saving programme.
According to the union, 40 of its members are due to be made redundant tomorrow as part of the health board's attempt to meet a Department of Health demand for a €1 million budget cut.
