The Taoiseach tops the list of Government high-flyers, with a total of 155 trips made on the Government jet since coming to power in 1997.
Documents released by the Department of Defence reveal the most frequent flyers of the jet over the past five-and-a-half years.
The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Cowen and the Tánaiste, Ms Harney, are the top three users of the jet.
Ms Harney made has made 72 trips on the jet during the period, while most of the Taoiseach's 140 flights were to London, Belfast or European capitals.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Cowen, has been a frequent flyer since the election, making 17 trips between May and December 2002.
Among the more exotic destinations visited by Mr Ahern were China in September 1998 where the Taoiseach took in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. He also visited Ljubljana in Slovenia, Maseru in South Africa and Marrakesh in Morocco.
However, Mr Ahern has also faced a number of embarrassing breakdowns.
In 2000, he missed a meeting with the UN Secretary General when the Gulfstream IV broke down on the runway of Washington's National Airport. More recently, it broke down minutes after Mr Ahern had reviewed an honour guard of the Mexican army as he prepared to leave Mexico.
Ms Harney made many trips to faraway corners of the world including New Zealand, Australia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and San Jose.
The Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevy, came fourth with 54 trips made between 1997 and 2002. The Minister for Agriculture, Mr Walsh, was only 10 behind, with a total of 44 trips made in the five years.
The Minister for Defence, Mr Smith, made 27 trips on the Government jet since 1997.
The Department which benefits least from the Government jet is that of Health and Children. It has used the Government jet just three times since 1997.
The Taoiseach has made 15 trips since the election last May while Mr McCreevy has emerged already as the third most frequent user of the jet with nine trips made.
The Tánaiste, Ms Harney, is close behind with eight trips made from June to December of last year.
Most other ministers have made at least one trip abroad so far.
The Minister for Justice, Mr McDowell, was the exception with no trips taken on the Government jet between June and December of last year.
