Legal proceedings have been initiated against An Post by the communications regulator over its failure to meet postal standards. Ongoing surveys by ComReg have found it did not meet targets.
The most recent study found that 84 per cent of post was delivered within one working day throughout the State, below ComReg’s 94 per cent target, for the first six months of 2011.
The Ipsos MRBI survey was based on a sample of more than 7,000 test mail items.
An Post said in a statement yesterday the legal action could “seriously damage” its financial stability.
