Birmingham - A burglar who stole a policeman's stereo then tried to sell it back to him by demonstrating the officer's favourite Tom Jones CD, was yesterday jailed for five years.
Warren Westmoreland was arrested by detectives after Pc Mark Ranger answered a local newspaper advert which he recognised was for a stereo taken during a break-in at his home in Harborne, Birmingham, last May. Westmoreland (23), of Edgbaston, Birmingham, invited the
West Midlands Police officer, who was posing as a potential buyer, into his home.
The court heard Pc Ranger then identified the stereo as his own and Westmoreland, who admitted three counts of burglary and asked for 41 others to be taken into consideration, was arrested.
