Forensic tests have been carried out on taxi fare money by detectives seeking the killers of a man in Belfast, it emerged tonight.
Police are trying to trace two men who were seen being driven off after Mr David McDowell, 35, was beaten to death in the city's Protestant Shankill area.
He was carrying a headboard to a house he was preparing to move into when he was murdered.
"He would not have hurt a fly," a member of his family said tonight.
Detectives carried out tests on a taxi in east Belfast which they believe may have been used by the two men.
The cash which is thought to have been handed over to the driver was tested as well for fingerprints.
Mr McDowell was living by himself and was moving furniture to a house in Battenberg Street when he was beaten to death at 3 a.m. yesterday. Police said they know of no motive for the murder.
The dead man's family tonight said they were baffled.
A relative said: "David was a harmless, innocent man. He was not interested in politics or sectarianism. He was not involved in any organisation."
