DUBLIN will be without taxis between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. today as drivers demonstrate against the city council's decision to issue 200 new licences. Taxidrivers and their families will march from Parnell Square to the City Hall where the council will debate a Fianna Fail motion to rescind the decision.
The motion also calls for an annual review of the number of taxi licences and public service - transport for the city, a customer charter, the issuing of temporary licences at Christmas and the provision of taxi sharing by passengers.
It further proposes the issuing of 100 additional wheel chair accessible taxi licences.
