Amsterdam - Bosses of Amsterdam's leading taxi firm were arrested yesterday on suspicion of incitement to violence, embezzlement and fraud after a probe into the city's "taxi war", officials said.
The public prosecutor ordered police to seize the chief and two directors of former monopoly Taxi Centrale Amsterdam (TCA) after an investigation into an ugly conflict triggered by the liberalisation of the market last year.
The trio were suspected of inciting violence against both rivals and critical TCA taxi drivers, as well as of offences including racketeering in taxi permits, embezzlement and forgery, the Amsterdam district court said in a statement.
