The body of a man found in the sea near a notorious suicide spot was identified yesterday as that of a missing music teacher, Mr Adrian Stark (33).
The public school teacher disappeared last week after being charged with possessing indecent photographs of children.
His Volvo car was found yesterday abandoned in a car park at Beachy Head, East Sussex and his body was pulled from the water by a lifeboat crew.
Mr Stark disappeared after detectives seized a large collection of pornographic material from St John's School in Leatherhead, Surrey, where boarders' fees are £11,100 a year. He had been charged with three offences of possessing indecent photographs of children and was granted bail. Governors suspended him from his post as director of music on Wednesday, the day of his arrest.
Commander Christopher Pelley, bursar of St John's, said yesterday that Mr Stark had been "liked and respected by everyone in the St John's community. We are desperately sorry to hear of his death and he will be sadly missed by everyone at the school."
