Teachers Union of Ireland members of Limerick Institute of Technology will vote tomorrow on whether to accept a proposal that former High Court judge Mr Rory O'Hanlon be appointed to investigate an exam cheating incident. The TUI's area representative, Mr Christy Wharton, said neither the local branch nor head office had agreed on the appointment which has been announced by the college. The terms of reference of the inquiry and whether its findings will be made public are also expected to come up for discussion. A student, the son of a college lecturer, failed in the summer exams and will not be allowed to re-sit them for two years after cheating was detected by two lecturers. The student admitted he got access to examination papers and model answers.
