The decision taken by TEAM Aer Lingus workers on a package to facilitate the company's takeover by a Danish conglomerate is now unlikely to be known until Monday. The 1,550 workers have been offered a £54.5 million package, or an average of £35,000 each. In return, some 1,200 staff would have to surrender commitments given to them that any staff seconded to TEAM would be taken back into regular Aer Lingus employment.
The deadline for the employees' response to the offer had been Wednesday of this week. Aer Lingus sources have said at least 70 per cent of the TEAM staff would have to accept the offer if the takeover by FLS is to go through.
