A teenager has been charged in connection with an arson attack that caused €3 million worth of damage to an apartment complex in Cork.
The 16-year-old was charged with committing arson at two apartment buildings at Atkins Hall, Lee Road, in Cork on December 29th, 2010.
At Cork District Court, Garda Denis O’Sullivan gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court the teenager made no reply to the charge.
Inspector Mary King said the DPP had directed trial by indictment, and Judge Con O’Leary said he was refusing jurisdiction given the estimate of damage mentioned in the charge.
Gardaí did not object to bail and, Judge O’Leary remanded the juvenile on his bond to appear again at the court on July 13th.
