A 19-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing his bike on a road in Co Tyrone.

A 19-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing his bike on a road in Co Tyrone.

He died at the scene of the crash on the Killyclogher Road at Mountfield, Omagh.

No other vehicle was involved and police today appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them.

In a separate incident, a 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed this afternoon following a collision with a vehicle towing a caravan. The accident took place on the Priestlands Road, Bushmills at about 1.45 pm. He was later named as Robert Canning, from Dungiven.

The latest deaths brings the toll on Northern Ireland's roads so far this year to 55.

On Thursday a 24-year-old man died when the car he was driving smashed into a tree near Fintona, Co Tyrone.

Two days before two Indian men died when their car was involved in a crash with an express bus and another car on the Belfast-Larne road, and on Monday another man was killed when he crashed into a wall at Kilkeel, Co Down.

The bodies of the two Indian men, who had been working and living in Northern Ireland with their families, were this weekend flown home for burial.
